Terms of use
Last updated: 23 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and us when you download and use CompanionForge, Free or Premium. They also work as the software licence (EULA). We have tried to keep them short and plain. Nothing in them takes away rights you have under the consumer law of your country.
1. Who we are
CompanionForge is made by Trouler Technologies, an enskild firma (sole trader) registered in Sweden and run by Henrik Lennartsson. Organisationsnummer 861210-3310, Blåsebergavägen 47, 216 35 Limhamn, Sweden. Email: [email protected].
Premium is sold to you by our reseller, Paddle (see section 4). For everything about the software itself, you deal with us.
2. What CompanionForge is
CompanionForge is a Windows 10/11 app that gives you a talking AI companion for World of Warcraft, on your own screen or on your stream. It runs on your PC. To talk, it uses AI and voice services that you choose and connect with your own accounts and keys (section 5). It comes in two tiers:
- Free: a full companion, free of charge, with a small CompanionForge mark on stream.
- Premium: a subscription that adds the extras listed on the pricing page. Every Premium feature and update we release is included while your subscription is active: no upgrade fees and no paid major versions. We do not promise specific future features or dates.
You must be 18 or older to use CompanionForge. Most of the AI and voice services it connects to require this too.
3. Your licence
We own CompanionForge and its own content (the app, the built-in lines and easter eggs, our avatars and artwork). We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it, on these terms:
- Personal use. One person per licence. You may use it on your own streams, including streams you earn money from.
- One PC at a time. You may install CompanionForge on any PC of your own. Premium is linked to the email address you buy it with and works on one of your PCs at a time; you can move it to another PC yourself, by choosing Back to Free on the old one or removing it on your account page. Premium checks your subscription online when the app starts and every few hours while it runs. Each check is good for 3 days, so a short loss of internet or an outage on our side does not stop Premium; if your PC cannot reach us for longer than that, the app goes back to Free until the next successful check. Free never needs this check.
- Free is yours to use for as long as we offer it. Premium features work while your subscription is active.
- Do not sell, rent, share or sublicense CompanionForge or your Premium access; copy it for others (except sharing the official download link); reverse engineer, decompile or modify it except where the law allows you to; or remove, bypass or crack the licence check or the Free mark.
- The World of Warcraft add-on is free, the same for everyone, and has no Premium version. It comes under its own licence, shown with the add-on.
- Open-source parts of CompanionForge come under their own licences, listed with the app.
4. Premium, payment and cancellation
- Prices. Premium costs $11.99 a month or $119.99 a year. Local VAT or sales tax is added at checkout where it applies.
- Paddle is the seller. Our online reseller, Paddle.com, sells Premium to you and is the merchant of record. It handles checkout, payment, tax, invoices, refunds and cancellations under its own buyer terms. These terms cover the software itself.
- Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period (a month or a year) at the price you were shown, until you cancel. Before a yearly plan renews, you get a reminder by email.
- Cancel any time, online, using the "Manage subscription" link in your receipt email or at paddle.net. Or write to us and we will help. Premium then keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for, and after that the app goes back to Free. Nothing you made is deleted: your memory, easter eggs, profiles, avatars and personality texts stay saved and come back if you subscribe again.
- Price changes. If we change the price, we tell you at least 30 days in advance. The new price applies only from your next renewal after that, and you can cancel before it does.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, Paddle tries again for a while and Premium keeps working in the meantime. If the payment still fails, the app goes back to Free.
- Refunds and your right of withdrawal are explained on the refunds page.
5. Your own AI keys and other services
CompanionForge connects to services you choose, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, ElevenLabs, Microsoft's Edge voices, search services and Twitch. They are not part of CompanionForge and we do not run them.
- You use them under your own account and their own terms and privacy policies, and you must follow their rules (for example on age, content and commercial use).
- Their costs are yours. You pay those services directly. We never sell AI credits and cannot refund what a service charges you. Set a spending limit with your provider; the app also shows an estimate of what you use.
- We are not responsible for their outages, limits, price changes, or changes to and removal of their models and features. When that happens we will try to adapt the app or point you to another service.
- Your keys stay on your PC. We never receive them.
6. Your content, your stream
- What you make is yours: your easter eggs, packs, notes, profiles and personality texts. You give us no rights to them; they stay on your PC unless you share them.
- You are responsible for what you show on stream, including anything the companion says on your channel. Only import avatars, models and other material you have the right to use and show, and follow the rules of the platforms you stream on.
- The companion is an AI, not a person. Everything it says is generated by an AI model, also when it speaks with a voice and a personality.
- AI makes mistakes. The companion's answers come from an AI model. They can be wrong, made up or out of date, so do not rely on them for anything important. In-game advice is for fun.
- Twitch chat. If you switch on Twitch chat answers, the companion answers your viewers. Use the limits and safety settings in the app; they help but cannot catch everything. You decide whether to use this, and you should tell your viewers that the companion is an AI and that their messages may be sent to your AI service.
- Game chat and screenshots. If you tick "Game chat" in the addon, or ask the companion to look at your screen, other players' character names and messages may be sent to your AI service, and the companion may repeat them on your stream. You decide whether to use this. Do not use it to expose, mock or harass other players.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use CompanionForge to:
- harass, threaten, bully or demean anyone, on stream or off;
- create or show unlawful content, or content that breaks the rules of your AI service or streaming platform;
- impersonate a real person, or make the companion sound like a real person without their permission;
- break the law, or someone else's rights (such as copyright).
8. The game
- CompanionForge is not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment. World of Warcraft is a trademark of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.
- CompanionForge never plays for you: no key presses, no clicks, no reading game memory, nothing injected into the game. The add-on only uses the game's normal add-on interface.
- Blizzard does not certify any third-party program. Your use of the game is under Blizzard's own terms, and you decide whether to use add-ons and companion apps with it.
- If a game update breaks the game connection, the companion keeps working without game data while we work on a fix.
9. Updates and changes
- We release updates to fix problems, keep CompanionForge secure and working, and add features. While you have Premium, you get the security and compatibility updates it needs to keep working as described.
- We may change or remove a feature only for a good reason: a service we connect to (an AI or voice service, Twitch, the game) changes, restricts or ends what it offers; security; the law; or a game change we cannot reasonably work around. A change will not cost you anything.
- If a change makes Premium clearly worse for you, we tell you at least 30 days in advance where we can (by email and in the app). You can then end your subscription free of charge, with immediate effect, within 30 days of our notice or of the change, whichever is later, and get back the unused part of what you prepaid.
- Features marked as beta or experimental in the app may change or disappear; that is why they are marked.
- If we ever stop CompanionForge, we give at least 60 days' notice, stop renewals, refund unused prepaid time, and try to release a final version that keeps running on your PC.
- If we change these terms, we tell you in advance in the app and by email. If you do not accept a change, you can cancel before it applies.
10. Availability, warranty and liability
- CompanionForge runs on your PC and should keep working even if our servers are briefly down. We do our best to keep it running, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors.
- You have the rights that consumer law gives you if CompanionForge does not work as described. We will first try to fix the problem. If we cannot, you can get a price reduction or end Premium and get a refund, as the law provides. Beyond those rights we give no extra warranty.
- We are not liable for losses caused by the services you connect (section 5), by what you choose to show on stream, or by things outside our reasonable control.
- If you are a consumer, we are liable to you as the consumer law of your country provides, and nothing in these terms limits that. Under Swedish law this means, for example, that if Premium has a fault, you can get compensation for your loss unless the fault was caused by something outside our control that we could not reasonably foresee or avoid.
- We are not liable for loss in a business, such as lost stream income, sponsorships or donations. (Swedish consumer law allows this.)
- If you use CompanionForge for your business and not as a consumer, our total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid for Premium in the 12 months before the problem and 100 euros.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury, for fraud, for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, or under product liability law.
11. Ending the agreement
- You can stop using CompanionForge at any time: cancel Premium (section 4) and uninstall the app. Your data stays on your PC until you delete it; the app lets you export it first.
- We may end your licence or Premium if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, for example by reselling or sharing Premium, cracking the licence check, fraud, or using CompanionForge for unlawful purposes. Where we can, we warn you first and give you a chance to stop. We refund the unused part of what you prepaid, minus any cost or loss your breach caused us.
12. Law and disputes
- Swedish law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you can take a dispute to the courts there.
- If something goes wrong, please write to us first at [email protected]; we will try to put it right.
- If we cannot agree, consumers in Sweden can turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN), and we will take part in its process, arn.se. Consumers elsewhere in the EU, Iceland or Norway can get free help from the European Consumer Centre in their country (Konsument Europa in Sweden).
- For payment matters (charges, refunds, invoices) you can also contact Paddle, the seller, at paddle.net or [email protected].
